Test centers are available at most colleges and universities as well as secondary testing companies. You don't
necessarily have to be a student at a school to take an exam there. Many schools have open testing sites or open testing centers and they
will allow anyone to take a test there. However, a few are limited and will only allow their own students to take tests there. You should
contact a school's testing center directly for their policy on eligible test takers. Also, verify if the school is accredited by a
recognized educational agency or association.

One thing to keep in mind is that the cost for taking an exam can vary from one test center to another. Some testing centers will
charge a Test Center fee on top of the standard exam fee while certain exams can be free for certain groups (i.e. military personnel)
but only if scheduled through an approved center.

Before scheduling an appointment for an exam it’s important to contact your academic advisor to make sure that you have
the right test in mind and to verify that you are eligible to take a specific exam. Remember that the policy for taking a Credit by
Examination can very significantly from school to school. Most schools do provide this information online through the undergraduate Catalog
but verification is important. |
