What Kind of Computer/Internet Access Do I Need?
Avatar Virtual Learning is a browser-based application where you can study and work on course subjects and interact with other students and validate coursework. Use these resources shown below to determine if your web browser is compatible with your course resources.

Supported Browsers:
To learn more about Avatar's general browser support policy, and to find information on Javascript, cookies, and other software, see the Browser Support Policy FAQ.
Desktop OS Browser Versions Mobile and Tablet OS Browser Versions*
Android Browser Not available 4+
Chrome 36+ 35+
Edge 20+ 20+
Firefox 31+ Unsupported
Internet Explorer 11 Unsupported
Safari 6+ 6+

•Mobile versions of these browsers aren't supported for Avatar Learning at this time, although users may have success using them.

•Google Chrome versions 42+ and Microsoft Edge do not support NPAPI-type plug-ins, including Java plug-ins and many media browser plug-ins. Some media source links in the courses might require these plugins.
Java and other browser plugins:
•A handful of features in Avatar require particular additional software to be installed (i.e. Java, Flash). Without these, the features themselves do not function.

•Multiple file uploads in Course Files and Content requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Oracle enabled as a browser plugin.  The JRE versions 7 and 8 are the recommended versions for features that depend on it. JRE version 6 may work, but could result in unexpected behavior.

Configuration Notes:
•Internet Explorer is only supported in Standards Mode.

•Mac OS X 10.8+ Java is no longer shipped as part of the OS install and must be downloaded and installed by users on request of application/applet - this is a one-time action on the part of the user.
